Tell us about yourself and what this award means to you.
I’m a lifelong Kenosha resident, raised with the values of hard work, kindness, and service. I’ve always believed that success isn’t measured just by personal achievements, but by the impact we leave on others. Receiving this award is deeply meaningful because it represents not only my efforts but also the support of the community that has shaped me. It’s a reminder that the work we do together matters and that every small act of service can ripple outward.
Tell us the most memorable experience you had in our community.
One of my most memorable experiences was volunteering during the annual HarborPark Jazz & Blues Festival. Seeing families, neighbors, and visitors gather along the lakefront to celebrate music and culture reminded me of the unique spirit of Kenosha. I’ll never forget the joy of helping kids with art activities while hearing the music echo across the water—it was a perfect snapshot of community connection.
How do you feel the Kenosha County community has influenced or impacted you?
Kenosha has taught me resilience and the importance of unity. Growing up here, I’ve seen how neighbors rally together in times of need, whether it’s supporting local businesses, helping families after hardships, or cheering on our schools. That sense of solidarity has shaped me into someone who values collaboration and believes in lifting others up.
How do you see yourself impacting or giving back to our Kenosha County community? What mark would you like to leave on it for current or future residents?
I hope to give back by mentoring young people, especially those who may not see their own potential yet. Whether through sports, education, or community programs, I want to encourage them to dream big and believe they belong here. The mark I’d like to leave is a legacy of empowerment—helping future residents feel proud of Kenosha and confident in their ability to contribute.
What do you think the Kenosha County community does well for its residents?
Kenosha excels at creating opportunities for connection. From summer festivals to neighborhood block parties, there’s always a chance to come together. The community also does well in supporting local businesses and schools, ensuring residents feel invested in one another’s success.
Where or how would you like to see the Kenosha County community improve or do better for its residents?
I’d love to see more investment in youth programs and recreational spaces. While Kenosha has wonderful parks and activities, expanding mentorship opportunities and safe spaces for teens could make a lasting difference. Strengthening public transportation would also help residents access jobs, schools, and events more easily.
If you could trade places or shadow someone in the community, who would it be and why?
I would shadow a local small business owner, like one of the family-run shops downtown. Their ability to balance entrepreneurship with community involvement fascinates me. I’d love to learn how they build relationships, adapt to challenges, and keep Kenosha’s local culture thriving.
Of any of your past or present coaches from the Kenosha community, who would you say has influenced you the most and why?
Coach Martinez from my high school soccer team influenced me the most. He taught me that discipline and teamwork extend far beyond the field. His constant reminder—“Play for each other, not just yourself”—has stuck with me in every aspect of life. He showed me how leadership is about service, not recognition.
In general or pertaining to a particular sport, what advice would you give to younger athletes in the community?
My advice would be: focus on character as much as skill. Wins and losses fade, but the way you treat teammates, coaches, and opponents will define you. Stay humble, stay hungry, and remember that sports are a platform to learn resilience, respect, and responsibility. Those lessons will carry you far beyond the game.
