Walter L. Schefky, 84, of Kenosha, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at ClearSky Rehabilitation Hospital of Kenosha.
Born on May 6, 1939, in Kenosha, WI, he was the son of the late Ludwig and Bertha (Weidner) Schefky.
He served our country and was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force. He went on to be a supervisor for American Brass Company.
Walter is survived by sister Hattie Frese, niece Julie Frese (James), niece Janet Frese, nephew John Frese (Cindy), grandniece Katy, grandnephew John (Reiko), greatniece Scout, and several cousins. He was an enduring influence throughout their lives as well as others, as he portrayed pure truth, kindness, and enduring love.
He was preceded in death by brother-in-law Herbert Frese, and several cousins.
Known as Wally by those close to him, he was well-respected as a generous and gentle soul who loved Kenosha. He served as a tour guide for family and friends.
Wally was an avid gardener and loved all types of plants and flowers. He treasured his many books and was extremely well-read. He had a brilliant mind and a wide variety of interests. Two of his favorite topics were history (particularly the Civil War) and finance.
He was also a long-term member and benefactor of St Luke’s Lutheran Church in Kenosha.
A private service was held, and he was laid to rest at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park with full military honors.
