Shelba Eve Blackshare, 80, of Pleasant Prairie, formerly of West Frankfort, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Hospice Alliance Hospice House.
She was born on November 20, 1941 to the late Joseph B. and Evelyn C. (Capps) Long in Bloomfield, Missouri. She attended Bloomfield High School where she graduated in 1959.
On February 8, 1960 she married Ray Blackshare in Bloomfield. He preceded her in death on December 3, 2006.
Shelba worked as a seamstress, a cosmetologist, and finally a homemaker for many years.
Shelba enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, gardening, flowers and the butterflies they attracted. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Shelba is survived by her children Lynnette Griggs, Diana Blackshare, Joe (Tammy) Blackshare and Ray (Sarah) Blackshare Jr., her nine grandchildren, her eight great grandchildren, her sisters Billie Snowden and Brenda Hargraves and a half-brother Ken (Alice) Long.
In honor of Shelba’s wishes, memorials may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, the ASPCA or other animal rescue organization.
