Rita Louise Romano, 90 years old of Kenosha, WI passed away Sunday July 11, 2021, at Aurora Medical Center, Kenosha, WI.
She was born July 23, 1930, in Kenosha, WI the daughter of the late Pasquale and Venera (Marrazzo) Aceto and remained a lifelong resident. On July 8, 1950, she married Arcangelo Romano, and he preceded her in death September 17, 2015.
Rita was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic church for many years and was a former member of the Italian American Ladies Auxiliary. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; family meant everything to her. Rita also enjoyed cooking, especially big family meals for the holidays. Along with her late husband, Rita also owned and operated Romano Towing for over 40 years.
Survivors include her children, Joseph C. “Joey” (Barbara) Romano, Charles A. (Francesca) Romano, Marie T. (Steven) Torcaso, all of Kenosha, WI; seven grandchildren, Kristen (Stephen) DeSchaaf, Timothy Romano, Rita (Benjamin) Gentile, Gina (Jonathan) Havlik, Joseph (Dr. Audrey) Torcaso, Rebecca (Hunter) Ress, and Dr. Teresa (fiancé Peter Mysliwiec) Romano; seven great-grandchildren, Vinny, Dominic, and Gioia Gentile, Corbin and Jameson DeSchaaf, Casen Ress, and Santino Torcaso; two sisters, Elena (Paul) Renzoni and MaryJane Wember; and her sister-in-law, cousin, and Maid of Honor, Mary Romano.
In addition to her parents and husband, Rita was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Giada Gentile.
The Romano family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Joe Garretto, and the staff at Brookside Care Center, for their compassionate care.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021, from Proko Funeral Home at 9:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum, Pleasant Prairie, WI. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at Proko Funeral Home.
