Pamela Ann Sorenson (Chapek), age 60, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026, at her niece’s residence, surrounded by family.
She was born in Racine, WI, to the late Robert and Nancy (Rupple) Chapek. Married July 2, 1994, in St. John’s Lutheran Church, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Joseph J. Sorenson – who preceded her in death on October 9, 2013.
Pam graduated from St. John’s Lutheran High School in 1983; She went on to Gateway Technical College, where she received her associate’s degree in accounting. Pam was very proud of her career in the military. She served 24 years, including 13 years as a full-time member/civilian employee with the Army National Guard, where she served in the Iraq War, earning multiple awards and recognition over the course of the years. She retired in 2024 from the US Dept of Veterans Affairs as a Veterans Service Representative. Pam enjoyed playing cribbage and cooking out with family and friends.
Pam is survived by her loving nieces, Ashley (Cameron) Wright and Brittany Simanek; brother, Bryan Chapek; brother-in-law, Richard J. (Chandra) Sorenson; sister-in-law, Anita (Scott) Witt; adored feline companions, Lucy and Elsa; and other special nieces & nephews, relatives and friends – too numerous to mention by name.
In addition to her grandparents and parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Sorenson; brother-in-law, Robert Sorenson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Shirley and Robert Sorenson; and her canine companion, Jake.
A heartfelt note of thanks to Pam’s Hospice Nurse Deb and Hospice Aide Vesta at Allay Hospice for their helping hand and the dedicated care, friendship & support you provided her in the last year. Also, her good friend Bobby Navarro, for the extra support, especially this past year. Your kindness will always be remembered.
A memorial visitation will be held at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon. A memorial service will immediately follow at Noon with full military honors. Private interment will be held July 2, 2026, at West Lawn Memorial Park, where Pam and Joe will be together again on their 32nd Wedding Anniversary.
