Mary Jane (Tenuta) Lequia, age 88, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Aurora Medical Center, Kenosha.

Born in Kenosha on December 19, 1934 she was the daughter of the late Achille and Jennie (Carbone) Tenuta. She attended local schools and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School.

On September 8, 1956 at St. Mark Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to Richard J. “Frenchy” Lequia. They were blessed with 59 years of marriage and three children.

Mary Jane was employed at St. Catherine’s Hospital.

Mary Jane was an active member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Holy Rosary Altar Society and enjoyed singing in the Holy Rosary Church choir. She was also a member of the Italian American Ladies Auxiliary.

Mary Jane is survived by her children, Michael (Deborah) Lequia and Anthony (Lisa) Lequia Sr.; her seven grandchildren, Steven (Veronica) Lequia, Amanda (Joseph) Vaccaro, Joseph (Michelle) Lequia, Brian (Megan) Lequia, Jennifer (Jon) Meyer, Jessica (Jeremy) Ostrander and Charles Veselik, Jr. and 8 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Linda Tenuta and many family members and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband Richard, Mary Jane was preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle (Lequia) Veselik; grandson, Anthony Lequia Jr. and siblings, Robert Tenuta and Betty (James) Paul.

Funeral services honoring Mary Jane’s life will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 2224 45th Street. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. A visitation for Mary Jane will be held on February 17, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Piasecki Funeral Home. The family requests that memorial donations, in Mary Jane’s name, be made to your favorite charity.
