Marion C. Osenga, 97, passed away at Harvest Home-Chalmer’s House Assisted Living in Mount Pleasant on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
She was born on her family farm in Dover on June 4, 1929, the daughter of the late Andrew and Caroline (nee Bauer) Osenga.
Marion attended college in Chicago and obtained her Bachelor of Music Education. After college, she taught music in various public schools. She was a very talented pianist, providing piano lessons, as well as supporting musicians throughout her many years working for Andrew Edwards Music Store. She eventually became the store manager.
In 1984, she recognized her dream of owning a music store and opened A Major Music, which was founded in Gurnee, IL.
Marion was an amazing and generous aunt. She was also a wonderful cook and loved traveling all over the world.
She is survived by her niece, Debbie (Mark) McKinney; her great-nephew, Adam Heaps; her nephew-in-law, Jeff Byers; her great-niece, Heidi (Jason) Lewerenz; her great-great-niece, Arya Lewerenz; as well as her loving Hostettler and Stanciu families in Florida and other dear relatives.
In addition to her parents, Marion was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Charlotte Osenga; her niece, Denise Byers; and her loving companion for 34 years, Einar Carlson.
A memorial service celebrating Marion’s life will take place in late July. Please check back on June 26th for an updated obituary.
