Marilyn (Schmidt) Matarrese, age 86, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital.
Born on August 24, 1936 in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Adolf and Johanna (Becker) Schmidt. She grew up attending local schools and was a graduate of The Milwaukee College of Cosmetology.
On August 21, 1993, she was united in marriage to Michael Matarrese. Their union was blessed with 15 years of marriage before his passing in 2009.
After graduating college, Marilyn worked for Vi Christiansen’s Hair Salon before opening her own salon. She was the owner/operator of Salon De Coiffure for 45+ years.
She enjoyed crafting, gardening, flower arranging, bird watching, watching the cooking channel on TV, vacationing, and spending time with family.
Marilyn will be missed by her daughters, Linda (David) Westphal and LuAnne (John) Kahl; her grandchildren, Katelyn Kahl and Robert (Stacie) Kahl.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her grandson, Alex John Kahl; her great-grandson, Jack Francis Kahl; her brothers, Erwin Schmidt, Fred Schmidt, Harold Schmidt and Lawrence R. Andersen.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Carrie for loving and caring for Mom during her illness and rehabilitation.

Funeral services for Marilyn were held privately.
