Julie Monterrubio, 87 formerly of Elgin, Illinois passed away on January 21, 2024, at Pine Brook Pointe Memory Care in Burlington, Wisconsin.
Julie was born on June 13, 1936, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the daughter of the late Miguel and Esther (Monterrubio) Pistone. . She wore many hats in her time. Julie and her late x-husband Ronald Musto and 3 yr. old daughter Claudia came to the States from Argentina in 1960. She quickly learned English, went to several colleges including Northwestern University and graduated with honors and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and languages.
In the beginning she sold Avon, did some modeling, was an Entrepreneur, High School Language Teacher, Investigative Reporter, T.V. Newscaster for Chicago, IL. and San Jose, CA. Spanish stations. Julie taught Spanish and French in a local High School in Skokie, IL. Highland Park, IL. and Sewickley Academy, PA. She retired from teaching as a Professor at Elgin Community College in Elgin, IL.
She loved sailing, skiing and traveling, looking sharp and fine things. She enjoyed reading and having deep intellectual conversations.
Julie was described as being interesting, eccentric, intelligent, strong-willed and charismatic. Her outside beauty was obvious.
Survivors include her daughter, Claudia (Keith) Nieze of Burlington, WI. Grandchildren, Lindsay (Brian) McGowan, Iowa Keenan (Kelly) Stone, IL.; also included are her 5 great-grandchildren, Logan, Cooper, Parker, Ellie and Jackson. Her nephew Sergio Pistone and two great nieces, good friend and x-husband Harold Peters.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Horacio Pistone.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
