James E. Schmalfeldt age 79 of Silver Lake, WI passed away January 10, 2024, at the Aurora Hospital of Burlington. He was born on April 17, 1944. The son of the late Donald and Lila (Ehlert) Schmalfeldt. Survived by his devoted wife of 40 years Betty (Bird) Schmalfeldt. He worked for 36 years for the Kenosha County Parks Department.
Jim was an avid fisherman and loved to be in his boat on Moose Lake (Hayward, WI.) or Silver Lake catching Muskies. He has an extensive collection of Musky lures. He was an avid NASCAR fan, especially Dale Earnhardt Senior and Junior. Jim also was a Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewer fan. He had a collection of Sprint Cars and Race Car models.
Survived by his wife Betty. Father to Donald (Karen) Schmalfeldt, Brian (Kim) Schmalfeldt. Stepfather of: Kristi (Jim) Tell, Kathy (Dave) Peregrin and James (Kellene) Strandberg. Brother-in-Law to Barbra Bird. Grandfather to 12 and Great Grandfather to 3. He was preceded in death by stepson Erik Strandberg.
Funeral Service Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 17, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00PM at the Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home 620 Legion Drive Twin Lakes, WI. The Formal Funeral Service will follow the visitation and begin at 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
