Gloria Rose Willoughby, 90, of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 after a short stay at Hospice House.
She was born on October 9, 1931 in Waukegan IL to Russell and Maxine Bussert (Burgett). On October 25, 1947 she married the farm boy next door, Wesley Robert Willoughby. Gloria and Wes were itinerant farmers spanning from southeastern Wisconsin to Tomah. They owned horses and dairy cows. Gloria later worked and retired from Wisconsin Precision Casting Company in Lake Beulah. Together they raised 3 boys, Thornton, Richard, and Dale.
Gloria loved to cook, bake, paint, crochet, and travel. She enjoyed watching X-Files, Dateline, and the Hallmark Channel. She collected the Chicago Cow Parade figurines and anything related to cows. She found great joy watching the hummingbirds, finches, and cardinals outside her window.
Gloria is survived by her sons; Richard (Ann) Willoughby of Arizona, Dr. Dale (Candy) Willoughby of Salem; grandchildren, David, Angela, Brandon, and Eli; Step grandson, Midshipman Nicolas Ruffolo; 3 great-grandchildren; and sister Donna Bussert.
Gloria is preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; her son, Thornton; sisters Delores (Les) Davis, Virginia (Robert) Griffel, Mary Lou (Richard) Buege; and brother Glen (Bonnie) Bussert.
A private burial will be held in the Spring of 2022 at the Rochester Cemetery.
