Elizabeth “Betty” Kretschmer, age 85, of Burlington, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026.
Betty was born on March 13, 1941, in Burlington to the late Joseph and Lillian (nee Klein) Lackas. She grew up in Burlington, where she graduated from Burlington High School. On April 28, 1961, she was united in marriage to Richard M. “Dick” Kretschmer at St. Charles Catholic Church in Burlington. Dick preceded her in death on April 16, 2010. Following their marriage, they lived in Burlington until 2001, then Spring Green, returning to Burlington in 2009.
Betty worked for Lavelle Industries. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Burlington. She volunteered at the Harmony club. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and, in her later years, Diamond Dot artwork. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she loved spending time with them.
She is survived by her sons: Richard W. (Daron Smith) Kretschmer, Jim (Becky) Kretschmer, and David (Corina) Kretschmer; grandchildren: Amanda (Adri), Nikki, Payton, Madison, Tamlyn, and Derek; great-grandchild: Levi; sister: Diane Adamek, and sister-in-law: Betty Lackas. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, siblings: Chuck, Mary Ann, Kathy, Rita, and Joe.
A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, May 6th, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Schuette Daniels Funeral Home. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, May 6th, from 4:30 PM until the time of service at Schuette Daniels Funeral Home. A private inurnment will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery in Union Grove.
Memorials have been suggested to the Harmony Club or the American Cancer Society.
