Effie Mae Bonner (Sollinger), age 90, of Kenosha, passed away on March 2nd, 2023.
She was born on July 7th, 1932, in Emlenton, Pennsylvania to the late Edgar V. and Mary Priscilla (Russell) Sollinger. She attended local schools in Emlenton, and later moved to Iowa where she attended Christian College. After college, she moved to Chicago, IL and on July 3rd, 1958, she married James Richard Bonner Sr. She was employed by Motorola in Franklin Park, IL, and moved to Melrose Park. When their son was an infant, she left Motorola and began a home day care that continued for nearly 40 years. In 2017 Effie and her husband James moved to Kenosha where they lived in Cedarhurst Assisted Living.
She was a lifelong church member, attending church every Sunday and singing in the choir, an adult Sunday school teacher, member and leader of the Salvation Army & Salvation Army Band, and member of the International Order of Odd Fellows. Her hobbies include swimming, feeding birds and squirrels, and gardening.
Effie is survived by her husband James, daughter in law Allison Bonner, grandchildren: Emily (Dean) Garrison, Megan Bonner, James (Audrey Young) Bonner, Jessica Bonner, Abigail (Michael Gennaccaro) Bonner, and Sarah Bonner, great grandchildren: Madelein Quinn, Eleanor, Veronica, Nathaniel, Gustavo, Malachi, and Delilah, a brother: Edward J. Sollinger, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her son James R. Bonner Jr.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Cedarhurst especially Donna Hearton, and Legacy Hospice for their loving and gentle care.
A visitation will be held at Kenosha Bible Church on Wednesday, March 8th at 10:30 with a service to follow at 11 o’clock.
