Catherine Mary (Bennis) Wynne passed away at the age of 91, at Hospice House, Pleasant Prairie, on December 17, 2021, after a short illness.
Known familiarly as Kitty, she was born on February 9, 1930, in Eckley, PA to Andrew and Grace (Davis) Bennis, both of whom preceded her in death.
In 1946, she married James S. (Jimmy) Wynne Sr., originally of Raleigh, NC, and he preceded her in death in 1971. She never remarried.
Prior to her retirement she had been employed at St. Joseph’s home in Kenosha.
She is survived by her sister Lila Bennis of New Jersey, and her six children: Lila Wynne of Chicago, William Wynne (Lois) of Peoria, AZ, James Wynne Jr. (Joyce) of Sturtevant, WI, Robert W. Wynne (Debbie) of Kenosha, Thomas M. Wynne (Jennifer) of Kenosha and John J. Wynne (Mary Travanty) of Kenosha.
She was much loved by her fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, through whom her humor and perseverance will live on: Gary and Brian Cahill, Jennifer Wynne, Sarah Wynne, Carrie (Wynne) Gray, John Wynne, Christopher Wynne, Jeremy Wynne, Andrew Wynne, Casey Wynne, Rebecca Wynne, Eric Wynne, Aaron Wynne and Keith Kikuchi, and great-grandchildren Anthony Wynne, Eliza Gray and Weston Gray, Layla Wynne, Connor Wynne, Tristan Wynne, and Dana Wynne.
She was loved and will be missed by many friends.
The family would like to offer gratitude to Pat Tews of St. Mark’s church in Kenosha, who was kind enough to visit and serve Communion to Kitty every week. Thanks also to the nursing staff at Froedtert Pleasant Prairie (St. Catherine’s) and especially to the staff at Hospice House.
She will be cremated according to her wishes and a private celebration of her life will be held on a date to be determined.
