Bradley John Thompson, 39 years old of Algonquin, IL passed away Friday, November 19, 2021, at Advocate Sherman Hospital, Elgin, IL.
He was born April 28, 1982, in Evanston, IL the son of John “Jack” and Caroline “Carrie” (Holtz) Thompson. On August 7, 2010, Brad married Lindsay Rau at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Janesville, WI.
Although his life was cut far too short, Brad left an amazing legacy. He was the consummate husband and soul-mate to his wife, Lindsay. He displayed patience, kindness and often openly expressed his love for her. Brad had tremendous success in academics and athletics. One of his fondest experiences was to be named to the all-state football team his senior year in high school.
Brad carried his competitive spirit to the business world. He worked as a salesman for Prometco for over 10 years. In that time, he set monthly sales records on a regular basis. Brad used his caring personality, calm demeanor, and gentle persistence to engage his clients. Brad was so affable, kind, and sincere that he was impossible not to like. Like a good salesman…he always delivered.
Family life was so important to Brad. He was always fun and enjoyable. He was always among the first to leave the leisure of a chair and engage his nieces and nephew in any number of activities. He was recognized as a “big” playmate. Whether it was basketball, throwing a football, dodging nerf rounds in the basement…Brad was always a central figure.
Brad was an excellent in-law. He was the first to jump up to clear the dinner table, help in any way possible and always conveyed his easy-going and earnest sincerity. We will all miss his smile, his generous nature, and his love of life. He leaves a void that will be impossible to fill. However, there is a sense of relief in knowing that his spirit and memory will never fade. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is now free of the pain and suffering of illness that plagued his last year. We trust that he is in heaven bargaining on behalf of his beloved Bears and Cubs.
Survivors include his wife, Lindsay; his father Jack (Joanne) Thompson of Kenosha, WI and his mother, Carrie (the late Tony) DeSantis of Kenosha, WI; siblings, Sarah (Guillermo) Cuautle, Sandy (Jody) Davis, and stepsiblings, Moneeb Elewa and Tesneem (Mark Triber) Elewa; his maternal grandmother, Kay (the late Roth) Holtz; paternal grandmothers, Shirley Thompson and Barb Cunningham; and countless extended family members and friends.
