everly Wait, 96, of Mt. Hope passed away on December 1, 2021, at Divine Healthcare.
Beverly was born on January 16, 1925, in Palmyra, the daughter of the late Charles and Hazel (Morehouse) Wait. She moved to Kenosha at age eight and attended Kenosha schools and graduated from Valdosta University with a bachelors and master’s degree. While attending Valdosta University she was a member of the Spanish Club. Beverly taught history and science at Valdosta Junior High School, Valdosta, Georgia. Beverly was a Sergeant in the Canadian Army where she served as a military police officer. She worked for Anderson, Sumpter, Anderson Law Firm, and then worked as a Bailiff. Beverly was a member of the Past Department Commander of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Past President of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Auxiliary, Past President of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1865 Auxiliary, and past member of American Association of University Women. She was also a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and a charter member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church.
Beverly’s hobbies included crocheting, needle point, embroidering, traveling, genealogy, was an avid reader, but most all of she loved spending time with her friends and family.
In 1982 she married her high school sweetheart Everett Charles Schroeder who passed away in 1996.
Beverly is survived by her sons, Larry Skilbeck, Bob Thoke, daughter, Clarinda Tolar, 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and many close friends. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Everett, sons, Robert Smith, Lenny Harrison, sisters, Lois, Doris, Ruby, Georgeana, Lenor, brothers, Douglas and Lowell.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
