Anita Wasion, 78, of Kenosha, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at the Hospice Alliance House in Pleasant Prairie, surrounded by her loving family. She passed away from complications suffered from being struck by a car on September 14, 2022.
Anita was born on May 25, 1947, in Oconto, WI, the daughter of the late Arthur & Sarah Maxine (Townsend) Brown. She was educated in the schools of Lake County, IL. Anita was a compassionate, caring, respectful caregiver for many years, working with hospice as well as in-home care. She was a published author who enjoyed writing in her free time. Anita was a generous and caring individual who helped at homeless shelters. She volunteered and fed people at the Shalom Center. She participated in the back-to-school backpack distribution program. Anita made bags of toiletries and food items and walked around downtown Kenosha to find and help people in need. She lived at Lakeside Towers, where many elderly and disabled people lived. Her calendar was always filled with names and times of residents who needed help with transportation to appointments, washing their clothes, and performing wellness checks on individuals with diabetes to make sure they were ok. Anita even went as far as a small town in West Virginia to distribute food. These are just a few ways she gave back to her community. Anita said on many occasions that the most valuable thing you can give a person is your time, and she certainly lived her life that way. Anita was an angel even before she got her wings.
Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family and friends. When Anita was able, she would always want to spend the holidays cooking and creating memories with the ones that were closest to her.
Anita was a devoted mother to her 4 children: Anthony Haslage of Kenosha, Kelly (Mike) Imbrogno of Kenosha, Nick Williams of Chicago, Michael (Briana) Wasion of Kenosha; sister, Dixie (Keith) Dolman of IL; and 6 grandchildren. Her greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren.
Anita was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Hauenstein.
We want to extend a special thank you to the Hospice Alliance care team for the compassionate support they gave our mom in her final days. Your care and thoughtfulness did not go unnoticed.
A private service will be held at a later date.
