Alex James Nigro, 92, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully at home on December 24th, 2023.
He was born in Cosenza, Italy in 1931 to Eugene and Carmela Nigro, and came to Kenosha as a young child. Alex was educated in the schools of Kenosha before joining the military. He went on to work at Camosy Construction. He spent many years as a delegate for the Laborers’ International Union of North America. He played baseball professionally for the Washington Senators and locally for Camosy. He also spent many years as a sports referee. Alex enjoyed spending his winters in Florida playing golf with his wife and many close friends. He was an avid sports fan, but most of all loved watching and attending Green Bay Packers games.
Alex was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Rose and Sam, and his beloved daughter Barb. He is survived by his loving wife Nancy, his daughter Tami Gandt (Kenny Samuel), his grandchildren Mitch Braver (Alison), Megan Sawall (Jacyn), Alex Nigro (Brianna), Matthew Nigro, Robyn Hietpas (Marc), Dylan Gandt (Roya), and numerous great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 5th from 12-3pm at Casa Capri 2129 Birch Rd, Kenosha, WI.
