The Uptown Kenosha Area is set to receive a boost in 2026 with the launch of two new grant programs designed to support local businesses and enhance the neighborhood’s vitality. Beginning in March 2026, commercial property owners in the Uptown Area will be eligible to apply for financial assistance through the Uptown Area Facade Grant and the Uptown Area Business Recruitment and Retention Grant.
Uptown Kenosha Area Facade Grant
The facade grant program provides financial assistance of up to $10,000 in reimbursable funds to commercial property owners seeking to renovate street-facing facades. The grant will cover up to 50% of total eligible project costs, helping businesses invest in improvements that strengthen Uptown’s streetscape and curb appeal.
Eligible projects include:
- Windows
- Doors
- Awnings
- Lighting
- Landscaping and Fencing
- Signage
- Siding
- Tuckpointing and Masonry Work
- Architectural Services (up to $2,500)
Funding for this program totals $50,000, provided by the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Kenosha.
Uptown Kenosha Area Business Recruitment and Retention Grant
This Business Recruitment and Retention program provides financial assistance of up to $5,000 in reimbursable funds to commercial property owners working to improve the retail experience in Uptown. The grant will cover up to 75% of total eligible project costs, supporting investments that strengthen business operations and attract new customers.
Eligible projects include:
- New Inventory (excluding alcohol)
- Equipment
- Marketing
- Technology Upgrades
Funding for this program totals $50,000, provided through the Small Business Development Grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC).
“Through these new grant programs, we’re giving our local business owners the tools they need to refresh their storefronts, strengthen their operations and continue building a vibrant neighborhood,” said Mayor David Bogdala. “Uptown has always been a cornerstone of Kenosha’s identity, and in 2026, we’re doubling down on our commitment to its growth and success.”
