Bristol Progress Days has something for everyone this weekend

This year's theme: 'May All Your Dreams Come True in 2022'

Johnson began covering sports in Kenosha in 2004 as a staff writer for the Kenosha News and eventually became a news and sports editor there, serving in that role and covering the community until May 2022. Johnson grew up in Kenosha, graduating from Bradford High School in 2000 and then the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2004. A schedule packed with activities marks this year’s Bristol Progress Days, which will be held Friday through Sunday at Hansen Park, 19806 86th Place (Hwy 45 and AH), in Bristol and other locations.

This year’s theme is “May All Your Dreams Come True in 2022,” and a carnival will also be part of this year’s festival.

Here is a schedule and rundown of this year’s Progress Days events:

FRIDAY, JULY 8

  • 6 p.m.: Coronation Banquet at The Parkway Chateau, 12304 75th St. in Kenosha. Cocktails at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. Miss Bristol 2022 will also be crowned during the banquet. Candidates Janae Hope Bayles, 17, Amanda Gorsuch, 19, Priya Kurszewski, 17, and Shannon Wiebers, 16, will vie for the crown to take over from 2021 Miss Bristol winner Amanda Palmen. Outstanding Citizens, Junior Outstanding Citizens and Corporate Sponsor will also be announced at the banquet. Tickets are available by calling 262-857-2447 and must be purchased before the event. They will not be sold at the door.
  • 6:30 p.m.: Fastpitch softball tournament, beer tent open, music provided by Kris Sampson.
  • 5-8 p.m.: Carnival wristband special.

SATURDAY, JULY 9

  • All day: Fastpitch softball tournament and activities for kids of all ages.
  • 7 a.m.: 5-kilometer run beginning at Bristol Village Hall, 19801 83rd St.
  • 7:15 a.m.: 1.5-mile walk beginning at Bristol Village Hall, 19801 83rd St.
  • 9 a.m.: Volleyball tournament.
  • 11 a.m.: Pedal-pull contest in West Pavillion (registration at 10:30 a.m.).
  • 12-3 p.m.: Carnival wristband special.
  • 1-4 p.m.: Free kids’ games.
  • 4-7 p.m.: Carnival wristband special.
  • 6 p.m.: Pie-eating contest (registration at 5:30 p.m.).
  • 7 p.m.: Ping-pong ball drop.
  • 8 p.m.: Beer tent band: The Empty Bottle Boys and One Shot Jane.
The Candy Parade through Bristol starts 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

SUNDAY, JULY 10

  • All day: Fastpitch softball tournament and activities for kids of all ages.
  • 12:30 p.m.: Candy Parade through Bristol, starting at Hwy 45 and 82nd St. and ending at Hansen Park.
  • 2:30 p.m.: Live auction in West Pavillion.
  • 3-6 p.m.: Carnival wristband special.
  • 5-7:30 p.m.: Big Balloon Tycoon.
  • 5:30 p.m.: Beer tent band: TRIP.
  • 6-9 p.m.: Carnival wristband promotion.
  • 7 p.m.: Raffle for Brunswick air hockey table.
  • 8:30 p.m.: Raffle ticket drawing.
  • Dusk: Fireworks.
TRIP

Games for the fastpitch softball tournament will be held rain or shine. The beer tent is covered in case of inclement weather.
