December 25, 1943 – January 31, 2026
Rhetta L. Wiggins, 82, of Kenosha, went peacefully home to Jesus, surrounded by her loved ones, on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
Born December 25, 1943, in Kenosha, WI, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Lauretta (Wilson) Quandt. Rhetta met the love of her life, Charles Wiggins, and they were united in marriage on December 11, 1965. He preceded her in death on April 24, 2017.
She was a graduate of Holy Rosary Catholic School and Mary D. Bradford High School. During her school years, she enjoyed art, choir and Girl Scouts. Her first teaching job was at Jane Vernon School, helping to teach deaf children to lip read. Her life revolved around children. After spending time at home with her own children, she worked as a lead teacher at UW Parkside Childcare Centre and then at Reuther High School as an assistant teacher in the infant lab. Another expression of her calling to teach was at her church, leading children to know Jesus’ love through Sunday school, CCD, and VBS programs.
Rhetta’s greatest love was for her family. She devoted herself to the care and upbringing of her own children as well as many others. She was a very involved and caring “NeNe” to all her grandchildren and to her newest great-granddaughter. In her spare time, she loved quilting, card games, puzzles and going to the movies.
She is survived by her children, Laurette (Jeffrey) Haines of Kenosha, Charles A. (Wendy) Wiggins of Kenosha, Michelle Wiggins of Kenosha, and Raymond (April) Wiggins of Racine; grandchildren, Makena (JJ), Alexander (Beck), Lauren (James), Zachary, JoHannah, and Collin; great-grandchild, Eleanor; and sisters-in-law, Erika Quandt and Kay Jackson.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother Donald Quandt, parents-in-law, Charles and Mae Wiggins and sister-in-law, Joy Stanford.
