Norman Barnes, 100, of Kenosha peacefully passed away on Thursday April 24, 2025 at Robin Way Senior Living following a brief illness.
Norman was born on December 29, 1924, in Waukegan, IL, the son of the late Percy and Thelma (Seymour) Barnes. He was educated in the schools of Waukegan. Norman served in the United States Army from May 1943 to January 1946. Norman was an ambulance driver in World War II serving in New Guinea and in Luzon in the Philippines.
On August 2, 1952, Norman married Emily Jo Chandler. Emily preceded him in death in 2014. On April 14, 2018, he married Laurene Dumke. Laurene passed away in June 2024. He was employed as a manager of Gordon Auto Parts and also A-1 Auto Parts in Waukegan for many years. Norman was a member elder and Sunday school teacher of First Christian Church for over 70 years. He was a member of the VFW Post 7308. He loved to fish whenever he got the chance and enjoyed playing cards and working on his 1946 pickup truck but most of all he loved spending time with his friends and family.
Survivors include his daughter, Deborah (Dominic) Gastaldi of Kenosha; nephew, William (Joni) Baker of TN; step-sons, John (Barbara) Dumke of Kenosha, Robert (Pamela) Dumke of VA, Dale Dumke of OH; step-daughter, Susan (Kevin) Kaleck of Kenosha; also survived by a great-nephews and a great-niece. Norman was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marjorie Baker Smith; wives, Emily and Laurene.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers and staff at Robin Way and his special hospice caregiver, Kia and Nurse Lisa.

A visitation will be held at First Christian Church (13022-Wilmot Rd., Kenosha, WI 53142) on Wednesday April 30, 2025, from 9:00AM-11:00AM with funeral services to follow immediately at 11:00AM. Burial at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
