Michael S. Maykut, 71, of Pleasant Prairie, WI, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, unexpectedly.
Born on November 6, 1954, in Cleveland, OH, he was the son of the late Michael and Patricia (O’Brien) Maykut. After a joyful childhood in Naperville, IL, he graduated from Bowling Green State University.
On June 20, 2024, he married Janet Smith in Evanston, IL. Michael worked as a construction consultant until his retirement.
Michael lived a simple life and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Levi. He was a fitness enthusiast, always being active. He was a great conversationalist and rarely met a stranger. As an avid sports fan, he could often be found cheering on the Packers or enjoying a golf tournament.
Michael is survived by his wife, Janet; daughter, Alexandra Maykut; grandchild, Levi Newell; stepson, Christopher (Marisol) Smith; and siblings, Kimberly (Jim) Stewart and Patrick (Jen) Maykut; and brother-in-law, Peter Lee.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Pamela Maykut.
A memorial visitation will be held at Proko Funeral Home on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 10 am until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m.
