April 28, 1934 – February 20, 2026
It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Marlene Mengo, who passed away on February 20, 2026, at the age of 91.
Marlene Elizabeth Gross was born April 28, 1934. She attended Bradford High School and got her first job as a car hop at the Keno Drive-In. She honed her business skills working for the Unemployment Office and at Warwick Company in Waukegan. She married Alfred Mengo Jr. in 1952 and moved on to raise her growing family, as well as supporting the family business, Dot-Line Mengo Industries, remaining a lifelong Kenosha resident.
Marlene leaves many to cherish her memory, including four children: Linda (Rick Hughes) Pierce, David (Jill) Mengo, Dale (Robin Hansen) Mengo, and Marla (Keith) Witt; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Alfred Mengo Jr., parents Carl and Alita Gross, sister Jean Hollister, and brother Warren Gross.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Accent Care Hospice, Parkside Manor, and Library Terrace for the care Marlene received from each facility, while also making many good friends along the way.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Proko Funeral Home. Final resting place will be at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park, 4300 Green Bay Road, Kenosha, WI.
