April 6, 1949 – January 21, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Ann Perez, who left us peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on April 6, 1949, to the late Chris and Margaret (Turgeon) Vaughan. She was a 1967 graduate of Bradford High School. Linda lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep commitment to education.
Linda dedicated many years as a Program Assistant at both the University of Wisconsin Parkside and LaCrosse, where she positively impacted the lives of countless students and staff. Her passion for learning and her genuine care for others made her a beloved member of the university community.
Beyond her professional life, Linda found great joy in cultivating beauty and nourishment through her gardens. She was especially proud of her vegetable gardens and rose beds, tending to them with patience and care. The vegetables she grew often found their way into her kitchen, where she was known as an excellent cook. Linda had a special love for Mexican cuisine, mastering dishes passed down from her grandmother-in-law, a native of Mexico, and sharing those flavors generously with family and friends.
Linda’s love for the arts was another defining part of her life. She was a devoted music fan, especially of the band Queen, and delighted in attending tribute band concerts whenever she could. Her appreciation for theater was just as strong. She adored Broadway musicals and made treasured trips to New York and Chicago to experience live performances. These moments brought her immense happiness and lasting memories.
A devoted animal lover, Linda was a proud cat mom to Barney, Leo, and Freddie, named in honor of Freddie Mercury. She also enjoyed traveling and embraced adventure, including time spent living in Germany while her then-husband was stationed there during his military service. No matter where she went, Linda carried her warmth and curiosity with her.
Above all else, Linda’s world revolved around her loving daughter, Marie. Their bond was the center of her life, and she took immense pride in being Marie’s mother, confidante, and greatest supporter.
She is survived by her cherished daughter, Marie Perez; her siblings, Bill (Marina) Vaughan, Debra Jones, David (Kathleen) Vaughan, Theresa (Vince) Lucci, and Shirley (Jeff) Kroeger; and many nieces and nephews.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Margaret Vaughan; her brother, Kenny Vaughan; and her sister, Christine Garcia.
As we say goodbye to Linda, let us remember her warmth, her laughter, and the many ways she enriched our lives. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life honoring Linda will be held at a later date.
