Kevin Shawn Hennessey, age 58, of Kenosha, passed away on March 25th, 2026, at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha. He was born on June 15th, 1967, in Chicago, Illinois, to Mark and Linda (Ricci) Hennessey.
He was educated in Chicago and Wisconsin and graduated from Carthage College before beginning a career working with at-risk youth for Community Impact Programs in Kenosha. He supervised group homes in Racine and Burlington before moving to Madison and taking a position in patient education and training with UW Health. An interest in education technology and the development of electronic health record systems led him to pursue more education, training certifications, and eventually his position with information services. He was a clever and creative teacher/trainer and did well in his field. He served as the Director of Health Link Education Optimization Support in Information Services at UW Health and worked with Epic clinical applications for the University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation in Madison for many years. Kevin was an outstanding supervisor and was respected and well-liked by staff and coworkers. For a short time, he served on the board of Epic Systems in Wisconsin. However, multiple and complex health problems prompted an early retirement in 2024.
An early interest in airplanes and aviation, along with encouragement from his maternal grandfather (a WWll vet and “history nerd”), sparked a lifelong passion for 20th century European and military history. Kevin was well read on the period, collected artifacts and vehicles from both world wars, and was a part of a World War II reenactment and living history group for many years. Being mechanical and artistic, he spent hours repairing, restoring, and fabricating artifacts, weapons, uniforms, and vehicles.
Kevin dearly loved the three little guys — Ollie, Brendan, and Lukie, his nephews — and he was often referred to as “Uncle Kevin.” While his health may have kept him from doing as much with them and for them as he would have liked, he was nonetheless adored by the trio.
Kevin had many treasured and longtime friends who supported him and our family throughout these difficult days. We thank them and are grateful for their help. His oldest friend, Keith, shared: “Soon I will be saying goodbye to my best friend for the last time. We were friends in the womb and destined to be best friends. While I mourn his passing, I have a lifetime of memories to cherish until we meet again. You were taken way too early, my friend. Be at peace, Kevin; you will be missed but never forgotten.”
Kevin is survived by his mother, Linda Hennessey; wife, Susan Hennessey; brothers, Patrick (Karyi) Hennessey and Timothy (Jackie) Hennessey; and nephews, Oliver, Brendan, and Lukas; as well as many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father.
A memorial service will take place at St. Mark’s Catholic Church (7117 14th Ave, Kenosha, WI 53143) on Saturday, April 11th, 2026, at 10:30 A.M. A visitation will also take place at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service. He will be interred at St. James Catholic Cemetery (7002 7th Ave, Kenosha, WI 53143) immediately following the service.
