It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judith E. Orozco, who left us on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the age of 84. She was born on August 5, 1941, to Raymond and Evangeline Miller. Judith was a 1959 graduate of New Ulm High School.
She was employed as an Accountant for over 35 years until her retirement in 2001.
Judy was a true people person, known for her gift of conversation and her warm, social spirit. As an ambassador for her residential wing at St. Catherine’s Commons, she made it her mission to welcome others and ensure no one ever felt like a stranger. She loved going out to eat, never passing up a chance for ice cream, and found joy in both the simple pleasures and life’s little indulgences.
Her adventurous side took her on many travels, including trips to Las Vegas, Jamaica, Canada, Mackinac Island, and visits with loved ones in Minnesota and Tennessee. She fondly spoke of her journey flying to Canada, traveling by train to Alaska, and returning again-a trip that reflected both her curiosity and sense of adventure.
She had a special place in her heart for animals and spent time working with animal shelters over the years, showing her compassion in action. She was also an avid reader and, by her own reputation, one hell of a blackjack player who thoroughly enjoyed the thrill of the game.
Above all, family meant everything to her. She cherished her loved ones deeply, especially her grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and joy.
Judy will be deeply missed by her loving children, Joanna (James) Santiago and Richard (Doreen) Reed; her grandchildren, Richard (Bridget) Reed, Chris (Kelly) Reed, Tina (Eric) Mertes, Tony Reed, Adam Garcia, Heather Thornton, Benjamin Garcia; her 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Judy’s warmth and kindness touched the lives of many, and her legacy will live on through the beautiful memories she created with everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Orozco.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Judy’s name may be made to Wisconsin Humane Society Kenosha Campus, 7811 60th Ave, Kenosha, WI 53142, https://www.wihumane.org/ would be appreciated.
