Joseph John Gagliardo, Sr., 92, of Zion, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 4, 1932, in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Albert and Katherine (Ria) Gagliardo. He attended local schools.
He served in the United States Marines from March 6, 1952, until he was honorably discharged on March 5, 1955. He earned the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, and the Nation Defense Service Medal.
On January 9, 1955, he married Ann McConnell in Southern California. They resided in AR for 35 years, later returning home to be closer to family.
Joseph was employed by Fort Sheridan as a civil servant until his retirement.
He was a former member and Deacon at Promise Land Road Church in AR. He enjoyed fishing, working around the yard, and spending time with his friends.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ann Gagliardo of Zion, IL; three children, Joseph (Debbie Ellis) Gagliardo, Jr., John (Ella) Gagliardo, and Cathy Bruner; nine grandchildren, Michelle (Erik) Brean, Jillian Brenner, Joseph (Holly) Gagliardo, Theresa Gagliardo, Lisa (Jeff) Gagliardi, Rose Carter, Erik (Rachel) Bruner, Jaime Bruner, and Danielle Bruner; and 13 great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Sharyll Gagliardo; two sisters, Christine Stockton and Marie DeFyn; brother-in-law, Richard Stockton; and nephew, Richie Stockton.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Proko Funeral from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at 4:00 p.m. concluding with Full Military Honors. Interment will be private.
