Jay D. Anderson, 89 of Elkhorn, WI, died at his home on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. He was born May 28, 1936, in Elkhorn, the son of the late Harold and Eldred Anderson. Jay graduated from Elkhorn High School Class of 1954. He was a loving father, proud grandfather & great-grandfather, and a friend to many. He leaves behind a family who adored him and a lifetime of memories that will never be forgotten.
Jay owned and ran his own construction company for many years and took great pride in his work. He believed in doing things the right way and worked hard to provide for his family. Family meant everything to Jay. He was a steady presence, always there with support, advice, or a helping hand. As a grandfather (and great-grandfather), he was happiest spending time with his grandkids, sharing laughs, stories, and life lessons they will carry with them forever.
Jay is a past member of the Lauderdale Volunteer Fire Department and was active in the Elkhorn Booster Club. He also loved the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing, especially when shared with family and friends.
Jay is survived by his loving partner; Sharon Read; three children; Jody Dressler of Oceanside, CA, Jeffery (Dana) Anderson of Elkhorn, WI, and Jerry (Jodi) Anderson of Elkhorn, WI, eight grandchildren; Dustin (Sara) Palenshus of Brooklyn, WI, Aurora & Aidan Dressler of Oceanside, CA, Austin (Maggie) Anderson of Germantown, WI, Ashlyn (Ryan) Reisner of Oak Creek, WI, Arik (Jordan) Anderson of Oconomowoc, WI, Katherine and Ryleigh Anderson of Elkhorn, WI, seven great-grandchildren; Steven & Jaylyn Palenshus of Elkhorn, WI, Axton & Ayden Anderson of Germantown, WI, Reign & Rylyn Reisner of Oak Creek, WI, and Archie Anderson of Oconomowoc, WI, siblings; David Anderson, Karen Varhula, Phillip Anderson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Jay is preceded in death by his former wife, JoAnn Anderson, and daughter, Jayne Anderson.
