Harlan Wade Schoen, age 91, passed away on March 31, 2026, at his residence in Kenosha. He was born in Iron Mountain, Mich., on May 22, 1934, to parents Erwin and Juanita (nee. McCrae) Schoen, and later moved to Wisconsin as a child. As a young man, Harlan worked as a plasterer for his grandfather, Jack Kaufman, and then he worked at American Motors for 2 years. He retired from AT&T after 30 years as a phone lineman. Harlan married Mary Nondorf on September 27, 1958, and together they raised four children. Some of Harlan’s favorite things were dancing to polka music, camping, and an ice-cold beer.
Harlan is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary Schoen; children, Glen (Jackie) Schoen, Kim Schoen, Wayne (Sharon) Schoen, and Cheri DeGarmo; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; siblings, Keneth Schoen of Kenosha, Jean Kulig of Whitehall, Marilyn Kirby of Burlington, Pat Horton of (Bristol); and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Harlan was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Juanita Schoen; brothers, Jack Schoen, Loyd Schoen, Bernard Schoen, Ralph Schoen, and Bob Schoen; and sisters, Delores McCormick and Faye Braatz.
A visitation will take place at Miller Reesman Funeral Home on April 4, 2026, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., with a prayer service to begin at 4:30 p.m.
