Gina Marie Missurelli, 93, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Palm Sunday, April 13, 2025.
She was born in Kenosha on September 23, 1931, the eldest daughter of the late Louis & Adelma (Suriano) Martino. On February 27, 1954, Gina married Francis “Frank” Missurelli at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Pompeii Catholic Church in Kenosha. They were blessed with three children and nearly 63 years of marriage, with Frank preceding her in death in 2017.
Gina graduated with honors from Kenosha High School in 1949. Upon graduation, she worked for a local medical practice and then the Kenosha County Courthouse. Foregoing a career, Gina & Frank raised their children in a loving home filled with the Italian traditions of family, food and their Catholic faith.
In addition to volunteering for Kenosha Memorial Hospital and Gateway Technical College’s Reading for the Blind program, Gina was also a long-standing member of both the Mt. Carmel and Holy Rosary Ladies Societies, and an active volunteer at Mt. Carmel’s countless spaghetti dinners where she shared her love of cooking with and for others.
She will be deeply missed by her three children, Clare (Leonard) Hartnell, Mark (Katherine) Missurelli, and Jane (Michael) McTernan; grandchildren Nicholas (Alessandra) Hartnell, Lucy Hartnell, Louis, Maria and Joseph Missurelli, and John Michael McTernan; great-grandchildren Eleonora and Francesco Hartnell; sisters, Dina (the late Mario) Bonofiglio, the late Nina (the late Robert) Aceto, and Rita (Robert) Ginocchio; along with numerous extended family members and close friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Pompeii at 2224 45th Street in Kenosha. A vigil starts at 9:00 a.m. in DeSimone Hall below the church for family and friends to pray and offer their condolences. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery & Mausoleum in Pleasant Prairie. Arrangements are entrusted to Proko Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be directed to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Pompeii Parish or Hospice Alliance of Kenosha.
