October 5, 1944 – March 18, 2026
Gary “Bob” Packman passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, March 18, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Kenosha in 1944, Bob attended McKinley Elementary and Lincoln Jr. High and graduated from Kenosha Bradford in 1962. The next year, while playing baseball, he spied a beautiful girl on the Roosevelt Park tennis courts and simply had to meet her. This was Helen Lienau, whom he married in 1966. Also, in 1966, Bob began his job with grounds maintenance at Petrifying Springs Golf Course, where he worked for 33 years. Bob got to enjoy 26 years of retirement, perfectly timed with the arrival of grandchildren, the building of a cabin up north, and many hunting and fishing excursions.
Always a fan of sports, Bob played baseball his entire life. He also organized the Over the Hill basketball group at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church for several decades. This past Christmas, Bob was still out on his driveway shooting buckets with the grandkids.
Bob is survived by Helen, his wife of nearly 60 years; his daughters, Jill Baum and Rebecca (Brian) Reagles; his grandchildren, Katie Reagles, Jack Reagles, and Augie Baum; his sisters Sue Bolton and Dianne Tryban; his sister-in-law Pat Hanson and brother-in-law Rudy (Barb) Lienau; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including his fishing buddies.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 18, at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church in Kenosha (2001 – 80th St.). Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a celebration of life at 11:00 a.m.
