David “Moonie” Strassburg, 61, of Kenosha, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Froedtert South-St. Catherine’s.
David was born on April 8, 1964, in Kenosha, the son of the late Elmer & Donna (Benjamin) Strassburg. He was educated in the local schools of Kenosha. David was a self-employed musician for many years. Drumming in numerous local punk bands throughout the years, he paved the way in the local music scene and made a positive impact on many lives. His hobbies included listening to and playing music, watching MeTV classic shows like The Andy Griffith Show and M*A*S*H, Ghost Hunters, True Crime shows, and various documentaries. Moonie was also an avid book reader of various musical personas and historical subjects. He would sometimes finish a book in days if it really caught his interest. He was an animal lover, especially cats, and had a great knowledge of other animals outdoors. His greatest attribute and best of all was spending time with his family & friends. Although at times he was shy, his heart was the biggest, and he was always willing to listen to people and genuinely treat others with respect. Moonie will be deeply missed by all those of whom he called friends.
Survivors include his sister, Carol (Tom Doucette) Strassburg of Sheboygan Falls, and many other close family & friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
