David Douglas Nusberger, born on March 20, 1959, in Mount Clemens, Michigan, passed away on January 17, 2026, in Waukegan, Illinois. He lived a life dedicated to family, service, and the joys of everyday pastimes.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, David embraced the values of duty and commitment. He had a long and fulfilling career as a truck driver, a profession that allowed him to explore the open roads while providing for his loved ones. His sense of adventure extended beyond his work; David found joy in various hobbies, including golfing, watching movies, and listening to music. He enjoyed reading and doing trivia, and he cherished his time spent fishing. His loyalty to the Green Bay Packers was a well-known trademark, reflecting both his passion for sports and the joy of being part of something larger.
On December 5, 2007, David married the love of his life, Kathleen (nee Kay), creating a partnership that exemplified mutual respect and deep affection. Together, they cultivated a warm and loving home for their children and embraced the beauty of family life.
David is survived by his wife, Kathleen, and his beloved children: David (Aradonis) Nusberger and Nickole Nusberger. He was a devoted stepfather to Donald (Kalyn) Knowlton, Carrie Knowlton, and Robert (Jamie) Knowlton. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his grandchildren: Zachary, Gabrielle, Scarlett, Jaxson, Emerald, Aubrie, Chloie, Jocelyn, Kennedy, Lincoln, and Jackson.
He is also remembered by his siblings: Darlene (Joe) Barbee-Nusberger, Stanley (Debbie) Lopez, Jeff Lopez, and Vincent Martinez, who carry fond memories of their time together.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Marian Martinez (nee LaRose), and his father, Jerry Nusberger. He also mourned the loss of his sisters, Diane Coates and Chris Pryce.
David Douglas Nusberger will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, strong sense of duty, and the love he shared with those around him. His spirit will live on in the lives he touched and the memories he created.
A Memorial Service with Military Funeral Honors will be held on March 15, 2026, at 3:30 PM at the Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory, 620 Legion Dr., Twin Lakes, WI. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of services at the funeral home. The Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory is honored to serve the Nusberger family.
