Colette R. Petroski, 94, of Kenosha, passed away Friday, April 25, 2025 at Froedtert South St. Catherine’s Hospital with family members at her side.
She was born on October 20, 1930 to the late Gustav A. and Margaret A. (Harig) Dyberg in Kenosha. She was educated in the schools of Kenosha and graduated from Kenosha High School.
On October 3, 1970 she married Ivan Petroski in Kenosha. He preceded her in death on February 3, 1994.
Colette worked at Eaton-Dynamatic for 30 plus years, retiring from there. She had over 35 years as a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and was awarded her Gold Veteran’s Badge.
Colette was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Colette was an active member of the Red Hat Society Crimson Delights.
Colette loved reading, enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards, crossword puzzles, traveling with her sister Nancy Rusecki and her brother-in-law Neal and dancing. She was an avid Precious Moments collector along with small decorative shoes and Hard Rock Guitars.
Colette is survived by her children David (Jan Nee: Heck) Wallig, Gayle (Bill) May, Barbara Frey and Scott (Kelly Nee: Myers) Wallig, her four grandchildren, Nate (Mary) Cline, Ami May, JR (Becca) May and Zachary Wallig, her six great grandchildren and her four great great grandchildren. She is also survived by a niece Pam (Todd) Winters and a nephew Mark (Linda) Rusecki, a niece Sally (Steve) Wisecup and other nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her daughters Lynn Wallig age 7 and Cheryl Wallig in infancy, a sister Nancy Rusecki and nephews Steven and Brian Rusecki.
A Memorial Mass for Colette will be held on Wednesday, May 21st at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (corner of 73rd St. and 39th Ave.). Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church.
