Carmella (Cristiano) Chapman entered into eternal rest on June 6th, 2026. Born to John and Marie (Del Frate) Cristiano. Carmella grew up rooted in her faith and community, attending Holy Rosary before graduating from St. Joseph’s High School and continuing her studies at Gateway. In May 1976, she married Gerald Chapman, beginning a devotion that spanned decades of love, partnership and happiness.
Carmella chose to volunteer at Head Start and teach parents how to sew clothing for their children, as well as hold fashion shows with these same parents. She also volunteered as a youth bowling coach. Carmella loved to sew and bowl, and she never met a bingo ball or hall that she didn’t love. Carmella also had her own Drapery business, Carm’s Creations, until she retired.
Carmella is survived by her children and stepchildren: Debbie (Freitag) Schuster, Wally Freitag, Jeremy Chapman, Kathy (Gus) MacRides (Chapman), Ana Benedict (Chapman), Sheila (Darrell) Seibold (Chapman), and Jamie Chapman. She was also survived by 19 cherished grandchildren as well as many beloved great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She leaves behind her sisters Lucy (Buzz) Garris (Cristiano), Anita Gasser (Cristiano), and her brothers Nello (Donna) Cristiano and John (Ruth) Cristiano. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marie Cristiano, and her aunts, Olga Randall, Jean Del Frate, and Rose Del Frate.
