Rick and Cathy Lemerond mourn the loss of their beloved son, Matthew “Matt” Lemerond, who passed away unexpectedly on June 12, 2026, in Racine, Wisconsin, surrounded by his family.
Matt was born on September 16, 1984, in Burlington, Wisconsin. Although he faced many challenges throughout his life, he met people with warmth, kindness, and an ever-present smile. Matt never knew a stranger. He had a remarkable ability to remember people he met and made friends wherever he went. It often seemed that no matter where he traveled, he would run into someone he knew.
Matt’s infectious laugh and joyful spirit brought energy to every gathering. His presence guaranteed a good time, and those who knew him will remember his genuine friendliness, quick smile, and ability to make others laugh.
Matt is survived by his parents, Rick and Cathy Lemerond; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Randy Wirth; his nieces, Sadie and Marilyn Wirth; his grandfather, Ron Lemerond; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his uncle, Tim Eisenbart; his grandfather, Herb Eisenbart; and his grandmothers, Betty Eisenbart and Diane Lemerond.
Matt was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Milwaukee Bucks, faithfully cheering on his favorite teams through every season. He also proudly participated in the Wisconsin Special Olympics, competing in bocce, bowling, and swimming, where he enjoyed both the competition and the friendships he made along the way.
The family extends its deepest gratitude to Eureka Bell, Miss Donna, and the entire staff of Forget Me Not Adult Family Home for the love, care, and compassion they provided Matt throughout the many years he lived there. They welcomed him as family, and their kindness enriched his life in countless ways.
The family also wishes to thank the emergency room, intensive care unit, and fifth-floor staff at Ascension All Saints Hospital for the exceptional care and support they provided during Matt’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Forget Me Not Adult Family Home, the American Diabetes Association, or Special Olympics Wisconsin.
Please join Matt’s family for his final farewell with visitation on Friday, June 26th, 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Schutte-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, Wisconsin.
To celebrate Matt’s passion for sports, those attending the visitation are encouraged to wear their favorite team colors or sports apparel instead of traditional mourning attire.
Family and dear friends will participate in a Funeral Mass on Saturday, June 27th.
