John L. Moen, 85, of Burlington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at his home.
Born in Burlington, Wisconsin, on June 24, 1940, he was the son of Lavern and Hope (nee Fritz) Moen. As a child and an adult, he called Burlington his home. He graduated from Burlington High School and on September 21, 1963, was united in marriage to Carlyn Madsen.
John was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. He loved fishing, boating, wood duck carving, motorcycles, vintage cars, and concerts. He also loved all sports, especially when his grandsons, Jess, Reid, and Brett, were playing them.
John is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Carlyn; children, Gregory (Laurie) Moen, Jeffrey (Julie) Moen and Julie Ann Moen; adopted daughter, RaeLynn Weltzien; grandsons, Jess (Madelyn) Moen, Reid Moen and Brett Moen; and was blessed to see and hold his first great-granddaughter, Hazel Moen. He is further survived by his sisters, Marjorie (Bud) Agner and Marilyn (Larry) Fay, along with many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Moen.
The family would like to thank the first responders for their care during this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Services for John will be held Monday, June 15, 2026, at 11 AM at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 9 AM until 11 AM at the church. Burial will follow at 2 PM at Burlington Cemetery.
