James Allen Ukkonen passed away on June 5, 2026, during an evening nap.
James was born on May 16, 1971, to Colleen Ukkonen. After graduating from high school, James joined the US Army. He served for 2 years, then was honorably discharged.
James spent his years doing what he loved, which was to protect and serve his community. He worked at the Racine Correctional Institute doing just that. He also loved working with his hands at Motorola when he was in Libertyville, as well as at Quad Graphics most recently.
James had many hobbies, such as reading, finding new and interesting movies to share with friends and family. His love for the outdoors led to walks, hikes, stargazing, and teaching his kids about them, referencing his childhood and days in the service fondly.
James is preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Joyce Cantwell, and his in-laws, Dale and Donna Coolidge.
James leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Anna Ukkonen. His three children are Travis Ukkonen, Amber Ukkonen, and Misty Ukkonen. His beloved mother, Colleen (Ray) Ukkonen, as well as several members of extended family.
