Jeffery “Jeff” Michael Margetson, 73, passed away at Sacred Heart Medical Center, Spokane, Wash., on May 20, 2026, after a long illness. Jeffery was born to Gerald Dewey and Majbritt (Hagberg) Margetson on August 6, 1952, in Kenosha, Wis.
Jeff graduated from Tremper High School, Kenosha, in 1970, after which he served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War at Carl Ben Eielson AFB, Fairbanks, Alaska, and was honorably discharged at Sault Sainte Marie AFB, Mich. He graduated with an Associate Degree in Forestry from Northwestern Michigan College, Traverse City, Mich.
Jeff spent the majority of his work life in Spokane, as an apartment complex manager, movie theater projectionist, radio disc jockey, mountain cabin remodeler, and, for the last many years, as the groundskeeper and landscaper for Spokane’s large Contempo Mobile Home Park. He was an avid reader, sports fan, music lover, caretaker of numerous goldfish friends, and a good conversationalist.
Jeff was dearly loved by his family, and is survived by his sisters, Sandra Slater, Grand Forks, N.D., Georgia Evenson, Lake Villa, Ill., Heidi (James) Prior, Farmington Hills, Mich.; and brothers, Timothy (Sheila) Margetson, Auburn, Wash., Robert Margetson, Kenosha, and Richard Margetson, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his Aunt and Uncle, Inez and Leland Hagberg.
A private family commemoration will be held in Michigan in June.
