Cynthia A. Hansen, 67, of Elkhorn, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at her home.
Born on July 31, 1958, in Manistique, Michigan, she was the daughter of Willard and Ann Edwards. When Cindy was four years old, the family moved to Wisconsin. She attended and graduated from Burlington High School. On July 18, 1981, she was united in marriage to Wayne Hansen. After getting married, Cindy and Wayne moved often with Wayne’s job. Wayne passed away on May 11, 2024.
Cindy worked as a cleaner, cleaning medical buildings and bars. While she was living in Texas, she worked for a local zoo, assisting with feeding the animals. In her younger years, she was an Elk member in Maryland and enjoyed drawing, painting, and playing golf.
Cindy is survived by her daughter, Jessica Polnac; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings: Carolyn Peterson, Carmen Schilling, and Butch Edwards; as well as one spoiled dog. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter, Stacy Hesprich.
The family would like to suggest that if anyone wants to make a memorial donation in Cindy’s name, donations go to animal shelters or zoos of your choice.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. A private family burial will take place at Burlington Cemetery.
