Junice L. Prehn, 101, of Lake Geneva, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Geneva Lake Manor.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, on June 17, 1924, she was the daughter of Robert and Lillian (nee Olsen) Wagner. On October 17, 1942, she was united in marriage to Miles Prehn. Miles was in the military, so they traveled extensively until settling in Norridge, Illinois.
Junice was a wife and mother who enjoyed raising horses and gardening. She was very active in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives.
Our resident of the month for January is Junice “Grammy”. Junice was born on June 17, 1924!! Junice grew up in Chicago, Illinois, with her Mom, Dad, and Brother Robert “Bobby”. She worked at Wieboldt’s Department Store and made gas masks with her mom at the war plant. Junice got married in a hurry before the war, on October 17, 1942, to Miles Prehn. They were married for 69 years!! Together they have 3 children, 7 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren! Junice’s favorite book is the Julia Child Cookbook. Her favorite movie is Gone with the Wind. Her favorite place to go is Riverview. In her spare time, Junice likes to spend as much time as she can enjoying the sunshine. She enjoys grilled cheese and tomato soup. She loves to watch Judge Judy. Her favorite color is blue, and her favorite holiday is Christmas. Some of her talents include bareback horse riding, clipping coupons, and pulling a horse trailer with her convertible. A secret you may not know about Junice is that she used to smoke cigarettes.
Junice is survived by her children, Gretchen (John) Kephart, Janice Moore and Julie (Dale) Gaines; grandchildren, Penny Stai, Robin (Hal) Mistic, Brian (Ashley) Moore, Kevin (Kate) Moore, Jenny (Brad) Pasko, Valerie (Ronnie) Blumreich and Glen Gaines; great-grandchildren, Todd (Brianna) Kallroos, Roxie (Adam) Honkola, Jenna Stai, Damian Moore, Miles Moore, Lilly Nissen, Rhianna Moore, Natalie Nissen, Kaden Roquet, Lukas Pasko, Jameson Aquino, James Roquet, Sage Moore, Charlotte Gaines, Levon Pasko, Adelyn Gaines, Benjamin Gaines and Kamryn Moore; and great-great-grandchildren, Etta Olsen, Mara Kallroos and Ellie Kallroos. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Robert “Bobby” Wagner, and son-in-law Bob Moore.
Services for Junice will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 1 PM at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 11 AM until 1 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at East Fox Lake Cemetery in Lake Villa, Illinois.
