Charles A. Powell (aka “Chuck” or “Chaz”), age 73, passed away from natural causes on April 18, 2026.
Chuck was born in Elkhorn, WI, on March 31, 1953, to Allen P. and Fannie L. (Peck) Powell. Chuck was a 1971 graduate of Elkhorn High School. Chuck was an avid “Cheesehead,” a Wisconsin Badger, and Milwaukee Brewers fan. Chuck was also a member of the VFW Drum and Bugle Corps. He was the kind of Dad who took the time to teach and not just tell. He was friendly and knew no strangers. He was witty, sentimental, and ornery. He enjoyed playing pool, horseshoes, and spending time with his grandkids. He was very artistically talented – from being a painter, drawing elaborate chalk compasses on the driveway, to retiring as a Hydraulic Design Engineer.
Those left to carry on his orneriness are his three children; Shawn (Sally) Powell of Rockford, Alanna (Kyle) Dolinski of Kansas City, Zachery (Maddie) Powell of TX, eleven grandchildren; Cora, Kelby, Clara, Shire, Kennedy, Cyril, Everett, Daxton, Oliver, Lucy, and Lincoln, four great grandchildren; Paislee, Kori, Aria, and Eleanor, siblings Margo (Harold) Knaack, John (Sharon) Powell, and Jean (Richard) Lile, two former wives; Sandy and Diana, and many other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers-in-law, Richard and Harold, and his beloved pets, Donna, Buster, Kringer, Brownie, and Shadow.
Visitation and memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church, 76 S. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn, WI, 53121 on Saturday April 25, 2026.Visitation will take place from 10:00am-11:30am and Memorial Service from 11:30am-12:30pm.
