Jay Anthony Presterl, 56, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Born and raised in Kenosha, Jay lived a life full of passion, humor, and love for family, friends, and music.
He was the devoted life partner of Stephanie Moore, a proud stepfather to James (Kendra), Brodie (Nadia), and Mason, and a loving grandfather to Georgia. Jay is also survived by his sister, Jill “Gow” Presterl; his brother, Joseph “Mike” Presterl (Jeanine Rondeau); and his cherished niece and nephews, Gia and Gian. He was preceded in death by his parents, JoAnn (Biscardi) Andrews and Joseph Presterl Jr.
Jay spent 29 years at PPV, where he considered it his work family and built lasting relationships with his colleagues.
A man of many passions, Jay loved riding motorcycles, relaxing by a campfire, grilling, and spending time with friends and family. A passionate musician, he played bass in the punk rock band 10–96 in the late 1980s and had a love for music of all genres, always sharing his eclectic taste and energy. He also loved a good thunderstorm. Jay shared a special bond with his cats, Kiko and Luna, and the beloved black garage kitty who chose him as her person shortly after he and Stephanie bought their home. That connection always reminded him of the black cat he had loved for over 20 years, named Kitty.
Jay will be remembered for his wonderful (and sarcastic at times) sense of humor, quick wit, his warm, unforgettable smile, and the best hugs anyone could ask for. He brought joy and laughter to everyone around him and made every moment memorable.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 12, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Kemper Founders Hall in Kenosha, Wisconsin, with a short service to follow at 3:00 p.m.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice Alliance, especially their nurse, Rick, for their compassionate care. Special thanks also to Don and Jacky LaJeunesse from PPV, whose support for Jay went above and beyond.
Jay’s warmth, love of family, and the meaningful moments he created with those around him will be remembered forever. He will be deeply missed and cherished.
