It is with great love and celebration of life that we announce the passing of Sheila Kathleen Huzzie, who departed this world peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on July 2, 1950, in Chicago, she was adopted by William and Eleanore (Maciejewski) Cullen. Sheila brought warmth and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
On April 3, 1971, she married the love of her life, Jerry Huzzie, at Holy Ghost Church in South Holland, IL. Together they had 46 years of marriage prior to Jerry’s passing in 2017. They enjoyed geocaching, birdwatching and going for rides near the lake and watching the waves roll in.
A woman of many talents, Sheila was an early childhood development assistant for Kenosha Unified School District spent many years and a Library Page for the Southwest Public Library.
Sheila was a genuine soul who brought sunshine into the lives of everyone she met. Her love for bird watching was unparalleled, as she often found joy in observing nature’s beautiful creations, especially sunflowers. She was an avid puzzler, always ready to challenge her mind with the latest jigsaw. On warm days, you could find her sitting on her patio or by the lakefront, soaking in the serenity and beauty of the water—a true testament to her appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. Listening to the Beatles brought her much joy and many days you could find her having KAFASI lunches with her friends at Redeemer Parkside Baptist Church.
Sheila was a devoted mother and is survived by her children, Korin (Jeremiah) Bynsdorp and Jason (Allison) Huzzie. Her love extended to her grandson, Elijah True Oliver and bonus grandchildren: Owen, Calleigh and Jillian Riordan and Benjamin, Zander and Jocelyn Bynsdorp. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Nancy Land; and grand dog, Porter.
Sheila will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered for the love and light she brought into the lives of so many. Her enduring legacy will continue to inspire joy and compassion in all who knew her. She was a devoted presence in her family’s life, always offering unwavering support, care, and love.
In addition to her parents, Sheila was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry.
In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to Hospice Alliance https://www.hospicealliance.org/ or Kenosha Area Family and Aging Services, Inc., (KAFASI) https://www.kafasi.org/ would be appreciated.
