Richard “Dick” W. Ure, age 86, of Elkhorn, WI, peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026. He was born on September 22, 1939, in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Walter and Jennie (Loncki) Ure. He was united in marriage to his loving wife Jeanette “Jan” (Nelson) Ure on October 1, 1960, in Chicago, IL. Together, they built a beautiful life and family and were happily married for 61 years before Jan’s passing. Dick proudly served in the United States Army National Guard for 6 years. He attended Greer Technical Institute and received his diploma in Automotive Mechanics. He devoted his whole career to being a mechanic and auto body repairman. Dick proudly co-owned and operated D & D Automotive for 8 years in Chicago alongside his son, Dean. He actively volunteered at St. Hyacinth School in Chicago, where he also served many years as a Scout Leader. He was a devoted family man who loved camping, swimming, bowling, traveling, and, of course, his great appreciation of cars. Dick was the type of person who made friends with everyone, especially all of his great neighbors in Elkhorn. He had a group of lifelong friends that he loved to travel with and play Pinochle, Aggravation, and other games. He was known as the “fun” uncle to many nieces and nephews and was especially a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed.
Dick is survived by his children, David (Maria) Ure, of Huntley, IL; Mark (Paula) Ure of Palatine, IL; Dean (Mary) Ure of Paola, KS; and Jill (Kenneth) Kosirog of Burlington, WI; his older brother, Robert (Jean) Ure, thirteen grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
