January 10, 1953 – March 6, 2026
Randy Daniel Viola, 73, of Kenosha, WI, passed into eternal life peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, to the late Dante A. and Angela M. (Rossi) Viola. He attended local schools, graduating from St. Joseph High School in 1971, where, following in his older brother Darrell’s footsteps, he excelled in football. He then attended Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, graduating in 1975.
On July 31, 1976, Randy married Kathy Hugunin. Together, they were blessed with two children and three grandchildren.
Randy enjoyed a long career in human resources management with both Snap-on, Incorporated in Kenosha and VW Credit, Inc. in Libertyville, Illinois. He was a retiree of both companies and left each of them having made many friendships.
A former Sunday School teacher, Randy and his wife, Kathy, volunteered for many years with their church’s compassion outreach ministry, serving lunches monthly to Kenosha’s transitional homeless. Randy was also active in a number of community activities earlier in his career. He served a six-year term as a City of Kenosha Civil Service Commissioner and served on advisory committees with the Kenosha Unified School District, the Kenosha Job Service, and briefly the Kenosha County Board of Supervisors. Following his retirement, he served as a local Hospice volunteer for two years and as a volunteer at his grandchildren’s elementary school. When the Pandemic hit, he found joy in working with his grandchildren in their writing classes online.
As a strong Christian, Randy always felt deeply indebted to God, thankful for the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ, and also for the many other blessings he was provided from God, especially his wife, children, extended family, and many friends from the neighborhoods, schools, and places of employment.
These are the final thoughts that he desired to leave for others. Please be kind to people even if they don’t seem to deserve it. Look down on no one because we are all sinners, and we all need the redemption that comes through Jesus Christ. A wise man once wrote, “It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness”. So, in whatever dark places you may live or work, please light some candles to give others the light of hope.
Randy is survived by his wife, Kathy Viola of Kenosha, WI; son, Rich (Maryke) Viola; daughter, Dina (Hamilton) Beal; as well as grandchildren, Noah and Leah Beal, and Maisie Viola. He is further survived by four siblings, Gayle Swanson, Linda (Frank) Bailey, Barb (Tom) Josephs, and Dan (Terri) Viola; two sisters-in-law, Peggy (Bill) Hughes and Kathy Viola.
He was also preceded in passing by his dear brother, Darrell Viola; brother-in-law, Jim Swanson; nephew, James Swanson, Jr.; parents-in-law, George and Helen Hugunin.
Private family services will be held. Interment will take place in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
