Eleanor L. Montano, 91 of Elkhorn, WI, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. She was born on December 11, 1934, in Fairchild, WI, the daughter of the late Johannes and Gertrude (Huesser) Bratsven. Eleanor was united in marriage to Richard Montano on April 14, 1956, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brooklyn, NY. Richard preceded her in death on September 19, 2000. Eleanor proudly served in the United States Navy.
Eleanor co-founded Hope Now, Inc., serving the needy of Elkhorn. She was an active and devoted member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elkhorn and served in the Ladies Guild for many years. She contributed and volunteered to help with funeral luncheons, turkey dinners, Hope Now, St. Anthony’s Table, and many more. Eleanor worked as a Surgical Technician at Lakeland Hospital for 23 years. Upon retirement, she worked at Lakeside Orthopedics with Dr. Knavel and Dr. Hart. She truly loved her work and was deeply devoted to her family. Eleanor was a generous, kind spirit who moved through life with confidence. Her boundless energy was a positive force for all the people whose lives she touched.
Eleanor is survived by two children, Angela (John Reid) Montano Reid and Richard (Samantha) Montano, two grandchildren, Alyssa and Sophia (Mitchell Junker) Montano Junker, and one sister, Esther Larson. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard, parents, sisters, Edith Oftedahl, Margaret Montoya, Betty Mendoza, Beverly Bratsven, brother, Harold Bratsven, and brother-in-law. Dominick (Angela) Montano, and two sisters-in-law, Marie Toth and Delores Barbuscia.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 5:30PM on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 107 W. Walworth St. Elkhorn, WI. Visitation will be from 3:30 PM until the service time on Thursday at the church. Private Family Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Elkhorn, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in Eleanor’s name to Hope Now or St. Patrick’s Ladies Guild. Online guest book at www.haaselockwoodfhs.com.
