June 25, 1941 – December 2, 2025
Joan Harbin (nee: Hinderliter), of Kenosha, WI, was called home to be with her savior, Jesus, surrounded by family on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at age 84. She was born on June 25, 1941, in Chicago, IL.
Joan fully devoted herself to being the best wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was always there with a warm smile and a loving embrace whenever family walked through the door, which was always open. Playing cards and board games were very humbling for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as she was a master! Joan was always eager to lend a helping hand or sympathetic ear to anyone in need.
Joan had many hobbies and went on many adventures. She loved to travel across the country in the motorhome or travel trailer. In the summers or on vacation, Joan could be found on the nearest body of water, floating on the boat. She loved being a Girl Scout leader, fishing, camping, and sewing. She had a weekly breakfast group that she would meet up with. She bowled on a team with this same group for years. She also enjoyed meeting regularly with a group of high school friends, some of whom were in their wedding. She loved to go on walks, especially to Dairy Queen to spoil her grandchildren with ice cream. She was also known for her love of flowers and keeping meticulously manicured bouquets, pots, planters, and landscaping. In her spare time, she would watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, and many times solve the questions and puzzles before the contestants on the show. She loved hosting family gatherings and making “Grandma’s house” the place to be on Christmas Day. Joan’s glowing and joyful spirit was evident to all who knew her.
Joan is survived by her husband of 63 1/2 years, Jerry Harbin; her children, Lynda (Tim) Becker, Carleen (Ron) Hoefler, and Cindy Ricchio; her grandchildren, Brianna (Justin), Justin, Allysson, Jonathon (Brittany), Aaron, Payton and Bryce; and her great grandchildren, Isabella, Gemma, Gracelynn, and Caleb.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul A. and Phyllis Hinderliter; and her brothers, Paul R. (Janet) Hinderliter and Raymond (Linda) Hinderliter.
