It is with a mixture of sadness and celebration that we announce the passing of Betty Lee Salerno, who departed this world on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at the age of 88.
Born in Kenosha on Born on March 23, 1937, she graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1955 and went on to licensed practical nurse in Kenosha and Milwaukee. She was employed at St. Catherine’s Hospital for many years in the operating room. Betty then transferred to Santa Monica, CA, for two years, returning to St. Catherine’s; then she moved to Honolulu, HI, for twenty years, working at Kaiser Hospital, where she became a physician assistant and operated an outpatient surgical department. She was involved in Reach for Recovery for cancer patients. Returning to Kenosha and working again at St. Catherine’s and Kenosha Hospitals until retiring in 2006. Nursing was her love for 50 years.
She had many hobbies, including creating floral arrangements, teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, and working in many churches with her parents. She loved animals and belonged to ASPCA, HSUS for cruelty to animals. In her personal life, Betty embraced every moment, filling her days with laughter, kindness to others, and creativity. Her warm spirit and joyful heart will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched during her remarkable journey.
Betty was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
She is survived by her dear friend, Barbara Alwardt.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Mike & Maudie Salerno; her two brothers, Michal and Millard Salerno, as well as several aunts and uncles.

Betty was very thankful to Dr. Wendel Friedl, Hospice Alliance, and Aurora Hospital for their care and compassion.
